This year’s NASCAR Cup Series Daytona 500 will air live on FOX beginning at 2:30pm EST on Sunday, February 14th. We hope you’ll tune in with us to watch No. 42 speed down the raceway. A NASCAR Cup Series car can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour, which is the same as traveling the length of a football field in only one second. Taking payments through Clover is speedy, too. But in the average time for a chip card transaction (under 3 seconds), traveling nearly 3 football fields is pretty impressive.
Clover’s shared history and values with NASCAR
Clover isn’t new to the racing world. Starting in 2016, Fiserv (our parent company) began sponsoring Chip Ganassi Racing, and we’ve been thrilled to expand our partnership over the years. There are a lot of parallels to be drawn between the teamwork needed to compete in the Daytona 500 and the teamwork needed to launch and run an SMB. We have the utmost respect for the precision and teamwork necessary to make a race like this happen. Did you know that a typical pit stop lasts only 12 to 14 seconds? In that time, countless tasks are performed. Even something that looks simple, like refilling gas, is remarkable in its own right: a gas can weighs up to 90 pounds and most pit crew members carry two at a time as they ready the car to go back out onto the track.
Clover is particularly excited to welcome Ross Chastain to the team as the driver of the No. 42 Clover Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE. Chastain comes from a long line of small business owners; his family has operated a watermelon farming business for eight generations. Expanding the Back2Business program
This last year has been a challenge for all small businesses, and we know that some may need extra support to get back on their feet. Back2Business provides merchants with financial support, business expertise, leading technology solutions such as Clover, strategic partnerships, and community engagement. Qualifying business owners in cities that host races will be recognized as Fiserv continues to help small business owners move forward from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The expanded Back2Business program will kick off with the race team in Daytona, with grants being made to two Daytona-area businesses.
